The detailed Report of Student Development Program (SDP)

The student development program was organized on 13, 14, 18, 19 and 20/07/2017 by Matushri Virbaima Mahila Arts College under UDISHA with the aim of imparting practical skills to the students. Shri Salim Somani, Ms. Krupa Choksi, Dr. Rohoniba Jadeja and Shri Shivramsingh Chudasama provided the valuable guidance to the students. All the students enthusiastically participated in this program. The brief report of the SDP program is as follows.

On the first day Dr. Salim Somani explained the importance of reading. Gandhiji had read Ruskin’s book Unto this Last and his perception changed. The two people are required for learning and teaching; student and teacher. It is the teacher’s job to bring out a child’s potential. A mother can also be the best teacher. Thomas Alva Edison, a school bully becomes a great scientist with the help of his mother. No one has been able to break the record of Edison’s patents. A total of 1903 parents, including gramophone are registered by him.

Ms. Krupa gave the valuable guidance to the students on how to develop their inner personality. Every person has great potential. But if the right direction is found, then it would be like Shri Krishna, who empowered Arjun by telling him Gita. To make any goal in life achievable, increase the ability because if there is no ability, it will be stressful.

Responsibility +Ability=Success

There are three challenges before the person.

(1) Health

(2) Environment

(3) Social Disorder

The youth of today needs to boost the immunity. The body is made up of seven elements. Energy, Chemical, Cells, Tissues, Organs, Body and Organism. A person can stay healthy if these seven elements work properly. This flow of consciousness comes from Karma. A person gets the fruits as per his deeds. Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is a code of conduct for living a good life. A person can stay healthy if the seven functions of the body function properly. The blockage of the functions causes the illness. The blockages can be removed by ‘Reiki’.

The pollution is also increasing in the environment. Doing Agnihotra makes the environment of the home and surroundings holy. Today anti- social activities are increasing in the society. The basic nature of people is changing. NIMHANS studied 1,35,000 suicide survivors of India in 2015. There have been many changes in the DNA of the generation after 1980s. So many social issues have also increased today, because the thinking pattern of this generation is different. The attention span is reduced. The level of imagination is reduced. The learning by observing cannot be possible. The relationship is based on compromise.

Dr. Rohiniba Jadeja gave a lecture on ‘Character Development through Ramayana’through lec-dem (lecture cum demonstration). She also spoke on ‘Liking to Living’. Three things are important in life. Happiness, Transparency and Confidence. We should take every situation as positive and should experience inner beauty. Satsang (A session on Spiritual discussion) plays the role as purgatory for our inner-selves. The jewels of good thoughts can make our lives good. If the patience, truth, forgiveness, grace, ability …. all these qualities of Lord Rama come in a person, then his life would become blessed. The laziness is man’s greatest enemy.

Dr. Shivram conducted some activities to make the students think in a new way. What can I give to this society, to my friends, to my college, to my family? The activity on ‘How to increase the quality of ideas?’ was conducted. The thoughts become the things. He stressed the virtue of compassion and developing the emotional quotient. The knowledge is like a lamp. Our journey is from less truth to more truth. He also told about some pictures and books, which shape the personality of the student and also suggested ‘Read the movie and watch the book’. It is love to get lost in something.
